Past Annual Meetings – 2015
Dinner
$ = inexpensive
$$ = moderately priced
$$$ = spendy
These places are all within a 10 min. walk of the Kelsey. Many are on the spendy side, so please note that restaurants on our lunch list are also fine for dinner (except Frank’s which closes at 3pm).
Reservations are recommended, because most places are on the small side. Ann Arbor is not fancy; you do not need to dress up. If you’re vegetarian, each of the places below will have some options and in most cases they’ll be pretty good. This list was difficult to make, because there are tons more good places.
ABC Brewpub ($$). This is Arbor Brewing Company’s Ann Arbor pub. Their beer is made one town over, in Ypsilanti. Good beer, good food. Welcoming pub atmosphere. Also nice for lunch. 114 E Washington St, (734) 213-1393
Aventura ($$$). Authentic, delicious tapas and paella in a stylish and modern space. Nice wine and cocktails, too. 216 E Washington St, (734) 369-3153
Blue Nile ($$). Tasty Ethiopian, utensil-free fare, with decent cocktails and attentive service. All you can eat platters are a specialty. Our vegetarian friends love this place, and we like it, too. 221 E Washington St, (734) 998-4746
Blue Tractor ($$ to $$$). A Michigan chain with BBQ, bourbon, beer, all good. 207 E Washington St, (734) 222-4095
The Earle ($$$). Old school French and Italian. Underground, wine cellar type ambience. Reservation recommended. 121 W Washington St, (734) 994-0211
Grange Kitchen & Bar ($$$). Simply prepared, very good, locally sourced food. Good bar, too. 118 W Liberty St, (734) 995-2107
Grizzly Peak Brewing Company ($$). Good beer, good food. Bustling but nice ambience. 120 W Washington St, (734) 741-7325
HopCat ($$). A Michigan chain with good beer, burgers, and pub food. 311 Maynard St, (734) 436-2875
Knight’s ($$$). Ann Arbor’s favorite traditional steak house. Actually, this is the attractive downtown version of A2’s favorite steak house; the original is west of town. Good food, reasonably priced for the quality. Excellent cocktails. 600 E Liberty St, (734) 887-6899
Logan ($$$). Suzanne’s favorite special occasion restaurant. Small, seasonal menu. Delicious cocktails. Attentive service. Just all around really good. Reservation recommended. 115 W Washington St, (734) 327-2312
Mani Osteria ($$ to $$$). Italian wine bar with delicious small plates and wood oven pizza. Modern and stylish, but also noisy. Do not eat here if you have trouble hearing! The Mexican street food place next door is also really noisy, and their food is not as good (just fyi). 341 E Liberty St, (734) 769-6700
Raven’s Club ($$ to $$$). Good, locally-sourced food, interesting cocktails with many historic recipes, décor is Prohibition-era speakeasy on an acid trip. 207 S Main St, (734) 214-0400
Shalimar ($$). Good, reasonably priced North Indian food with a big selection of vegetarian dishes. Big, comfy booths. 307 S Main St, (734) 663-1500
Vinology ($$$). Bills itself as a wine bar, but is actually a restaurant. Good food and good wine, with a large selection of wines by the glass. Usually has some nice fixed menus with wine pairings. 110 S Main St, (734) 222-9841
Late Night or Early Morning Dining
The Fleetwood Diner – Classic diner, open 24 hours a day; their most famous dish is “Hippie Hash” and it’s delicious. It’ll hit the spot after partying all night with your MRCG peeps. 300 S Ashley St, (734) 995-5502
