Assistant Conservator of Paintings - Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO
The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is seeking an Assistant Conservator of Paintings to join its conservation team. Working closely with curatorial and collections staff, the Assistant Conservator of Paintings will participate in a wide range of department activities, including examination, treatment, catalogue research, loan preparations, exhibition activity, courier trips, preventive maintenance, and outreach.

Compensation: $52,288 - $58,770 per year + benefits
Reports to: Head of Conservation and Senior Paintings Conservator
The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art's collection encompasses more than 40,000 art objects, including masterpieces from diverse world cultures spanning 5,000 years of history. Shortly after opening in 1933, the museum committed to the preservation of the collections with the hiring of the first full-time paintings conservator in 1938. Today the fully equipped conservation spaces also include objects, paper, and photography specialists who promote preservation, conservation, research and education. Scientific research on the collection is funded through a generous endowment from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Admission to the Nelson-Atkins is free. Qualified applicants must hold a graduate degree from a recognized conservation training program, with a specialization in Paintings conservation. Applicants must possess excellent written and verbal communication, strong time management skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
