2020 Fall/Winter Lecture Series

The Midwest Regional Conservation Guild and Chicago Area Conservation Group are very pleased to join forces this year to offer two programs, a virtual meeting and an online lecture series for this fall and winter 2020-2021.  Both programs will be free to all members of either MRCG or CACG.  The virtual meeting will consist of a panel discussion from conservators from different areas of the field.  The fall/winter lecture series will consist of eight stimulating online lectures representing a wide variety of conservation issues, disciplines, and subject matters.

You do not need to live in the Midwest or in the Chicago area to be a member of MRCG or CACG.

‘Untold Stories, New Avenues: The U505 Submarine’
A presentation by Jane Foley of L. Liparini & Third Coast Conservation about the conservation of significant elements of the U505 Submarine at the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago. The project was three years in production and execution. Priorities in planning meant some elements were set aside before the conservation and restoration of three historic floors, structural elements and instruments would adhere to the budget provided and fulfil the brief to increase access and restore authenticity in this rare and significant exhibit. The project was carried out at night, involving long hours of skilled application by a team of mixed specialisms.
